When we first dreamed of Journey 2L2 and what she would look like, we created this vision statement - “We will be a God honoring, people loving, life transforming community seeking to love our neighbor as Christ commanded us.  The evidence of this vision will be seen through our demonstrated acts of service.”  As I sit here and think about our next home makeover project called “David’s House,” I think about this statement and how all the elements of our vision are wrapped up into this one project. 

Teresa Vann, our Executive Director, and Denise Gutierrez, our Community Outreach Director, had the opportunity this week to meet with other South Brunswick community leaders and share with them about David’s House.  The response they got was great.  Each group represented at that meeting was very excited about what we are doing and are eager to help.  LouAnne Wolfe, who is the Director of South Brunswick Social Services said, “In my 16 years of working for Social Services, this is the most exciting thing I have ever seen happen in South Brunswick.” 

What excites me is the chance to work with others in our community and the conversations that will take place.  To share with them that we are doing this because Christ loves us, and because He loves, we love – with no strings attached.  To watch lives change by the realization that serving people as a regular part of your life brings a new fulfillment to what it really means to live and walk with God. 

I hope you are as excited as I am about all of this, and I hope you will invite as many people as you can to come and serve with us.  This is a BIG project and we need all the people we can get.  I have attached a flyer about the project that you can use to give to your friends, or post it at your office, local grocery store, library, etc. 

I am looking forward to serving with you.
