Thank you, thank you, thank you!  To everyone who helped out last Sunday at the Eden Run.  I have been on vacation these past 2 weeks, so I missed serving with you, but I understand that many of you came to volunteer and to run, and Eden Family Services raised more than $45,000 to benefit children and adults with autism – way to go! 

Like me, many of you are vacationing and enjoying your summer, but there is still A LOT happening at Journey 2L2 that you don’t want to miss:

• Canned Food Drive – benefiting the South Brunswick Food Pantry – now until August 12^th
• Back-to-School Clothing and School Supplies Collection – in partnership with South Brunswick Social Services - now until September 2^nd
• Landscaping at Eden A.C.R.E.’s – August 4^th
• The next Journey Home – August 11^th and 12^th 
• Back-to-School Shopping Spree – September 9^th

We had the opportunity 2 weeks ago to do “A Journey Home - to Go.”  There was a young mom with a baby living in an apartment with nothing in it but a chair.  Through a ministry connection my sister has in Manasquan, we were able to get everything this mom and baby needed to furnish their apartment.  Couch, armchair, box spring, mattress, kitchen table, chairs, end tables, dresser, silverware, linens, shower curtain, ice cube trays, glasses, pots, pans, baking dishes, cooking utensils, laundry hamper, and lamps were loaded into the Journey van on Thursday afternoon and by Friday they were delivered and set up in the apartment.  Just like our first Journey Home, the impact that was made in the lives of this young family was overwhelming.

Also, the Summer Fun Bags that you helped put together were delivered to children living at Naomi’s Way – a transitional housing shelter for battered woman and their children.  Teresa and Denise loaded up their cars with the bags, balloons, popcorn and popsicles and had a great time hanging out with the kids and handing out all the goodies.  There were many hugs and smiles from the kids as well as emotional thank you’s from the moms.  You can see the pictures on our website at http://www.journey2l2.org/Serving%20Others.htm.

As I look back over what I just wrote, I am in awe of all the opportunities we have had and all the opportunities that are before us where we get to love others.  Just love – with no strings attached.  It is an amazing Journey we are on, and I am glad that each one of you is a part.
