The Reverend Robert R. Cushman was graduated from Columbia Bible College, Columbia, South Carolina, with post graduate studies at Columbia International University of Bible and Missions, and at Alliance Theological Seminary.

Prior to joining Princeton Alliance Church of Plainsboro, NJ, he served as Minister of Christian Education at Mountainside Gospel Chapel, Union County, New Jersey. There he was ordained to the ministry in the first ordination to be held at that church in its over-160-year history.

Joining the staff of Princeton Alliance Church in 1986 as Minister of Christian Education, he later became Executive Pastor, and, in 1990, Senior Pastor.

Though the church passed through some difficult times in its early days, when, at one time, the church staff consisted of Cushman and one secretary, he shepherded the church through those difficult times to years of phenomenal growth.

During his tenure at Princeton Alliance he oversaw the growth of the church from 210 families to over 1,800. Under his leadership the church underwent a successful $2,500,000 building campaign. At the new facility, under Cushman’s guidance, a Cars Ministry was established, attendance at the summer vacation Bible school grew from approximately 500 participants in 1999 to 1,000 in 2005, weekend services were increased to six, and annual giving was increased to some $2 million annually.

In 2006, after a year of writing, reflection and prayer, he became Lead Pastor of an outwardly-focused congregation, Journey 2L2, in the Princeton, New Jersey area. He was contributing editor to From Seed to Harvest (1993), and The Church at the Crossroads (1999), is the author of From the Pastor’s Desk (2005), and "What If You Pray: Experiencing the Reality of Prayer." (Dec. 2007)
